Apple Launches Apple Upgrade: A New Leasing Program for iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and iPad
Apple has announced Apple Upgrade, a new product leasing program provided by Klarna that makes it easier for customers to get the latest Apple devices with flexible monthly payments. The program is available for iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and iPad through the Apple Store online, in the Apple Store app, and at Apple Store locations in the United States. Apple Upgrade replaces the previous iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments, which will no longer be offered in the U.S.
How Apple Upgrade Works
Apple Upgrade offers leasing options with varying terms depending on the product. iPhone and Apple Watch are available with 12- and 24-month lease terms. Mac and iPad are available with 24- and 36-month lease terms. Monthly lease payments start as low as $17.99 for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch, $24.99 for Mac, and $11.99 for iPad. Customers can lower their monthly payments when first enrolling by trading in their currently owned device through Apple Trade In. Lease payments made with Apple Card earn 3 percent Daily Cash back.
The enrollment process is designed to be simple and seamless. Customers can apply online or in-store within minutes and receive quick approval from Klarna. All applicants undergo a soft credit inquiry that does not impact their credit score. Once approved, in-store customers can take their new device home immediately, while online customers can choose delivery or in-store pickup. All customers can take advantage of Apple's Personal Setup service to get their new device ready to use and can join free Today at Apple sessions to learn more about their products.
At the end of the lease term, customers have three options: upgrade to the latest generation device, purchase the device with a one-time payment, or return the device and exit the program. The Klarna app allows customers to manage all lease information, including billing schedules and remaining payments. An AppleCare subscription can be added to protect the device and simplify the return and upgrade process.
